Many of you are avid Mashable enthusiasts. I mean who isn’t. Mashable is the gravy if you’re into social media and new media. In the last few months I have noticed an incredibly informative and well produced video series populate Mashable, called Behind the Brand. In these videos, host Bryan Elliott examines brands, innovators, authors and small businesses by engaging them in conversation about their passions, their challenges and how it is these personalities have achieved such a high level of success.
Three of the most compelling video interviews I have recently watched from Behind the Brand, are those with Gary Vaynerchuk, Chris Brogan and Michael Stelzner. Bryan does an excellent job of digging into each innovator’s story, learning what makes him tick and peeling back the layers of success. Not all success stories are the same and Bryan understands that. Bryan is an absolute rock-star interviewer in his own right and has the on-camera chops and pedigree that turns this program from good to can’t miss.
Here’s why I love the show:
- Amazing graphics and images layered into the video that instantly increase engagement.
- Interviews aren’t interviews, they’re conversations. Each one of the three videos I viewed was at least 11 minutes, and two interviews (those with Michael Stelzner and Gary Vaynerchuk) are each well over 20 minutes. You’ll agree with me that this is the quickest 20 minutes you have ever spent viewing online videos.
- Production quality is great. The shooting is sound and captures the interplay between interviewer and interviewee beautifully. Also, you can’t beat the location of the interviews. Chris Brogan enjoyed his at the Oakley Headquarters, in Orange County, California.
- Content is incredible. If you’re an entrepreneur or small business and looking to innovate, grow your business, reach more customers, drive more sales or work on accomplishing all of these four items, then Behind the Brand should be bookmarked in your browser.
- These videos are unedited. This is my fair warning for children under the age of 13, these videos contain language ill-suited for the kiddies at home. If you’re watching Gary Vaynerchuk and his bundle of kinetic energy ramp up, be prepared for a bit of foul language. Gary is by no means crass and I love that Behind the Brand does not edit out the language. Gary is Gary and this is why he is so hugely successful, because he doesn’t have a filter and doesn’t have an “slow-down” bottom.
Below are my three favorites. I would love to hear your thoughts on Behind the Brand and whether or not you have heard of this great video blog/small business resource. Here’s to innovators and those who take the time to dig deeper into what makes them tick.
